چکیده
THIS study was conducted to activate and characterize carbons prepared from coconut shells for subsequent adsorption of Cr (VI) synthetic wastewater. The process carried out through batch studies. results showed that the pH, contact time temperature dependent. optimum pH 2 both cashew bark extract activated (CNAC1) H3PO4 (CNAC2) carbons. Characterization using Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed OH C=O were some prominent functional groups involved in (VI). EDX analysis confirmed on surfaces (ACs). Furthermore, SEM characterization free ACs coarser more porous than their (VI loaded counter-parts while elemental composition samples carbonaceous. feasible followed pseudo-first-order kinetic model. Generally, efficiency CNAC2 higher CNAC1. However, could be used as an activating agent preparation carbon because it is cheaper eco-friendlier H3PO4.

Removal of Heavy Metal Ions with Acid Activated Carbons Derived from Oil Palm and Coconut Shells
In this work, batch adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the suitability of prepared acid activated carbons in removing heavy metal ions such as nickel(II), lead(II) and chromium(VI). Acid activated carbons were obtained from oil palm and coconut shells using phosphoric acid under similar activation process while the differences lie either in impregnation condition or in both ...
متن کاملActivated carbons derived from coconut shells as high energy density cathode material for Li-ion capacitors
In this manuscript, a dramatic increase in the energy density of ~ 69 Wh kg⁻¹ and an extraordinary cycleability ~ 2000 cycles of the Li-ion hybrid electrochemical capacitors (Li-HEC) is achieved by employing tailored activated carbon (AC) of ~ 60% mesoporosity derived from coconut shells (CS). The AC is obtained by both physical and chemical hydrothermal carbonization activation process, and co...
متن کاملThe genome draft of coconut (Cocos nucifera)
Coconut palm (Cocos nucifera,2n = 32), a member of genus Cocos and family Arecaceae (Palmaceae), is an important tropical fruit and oil crop. Currently, coconut palm is cultivated in 93 countries, including Central and South America, East and West Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, with a total growth area of more than 12 million hectares [1]. Coconut palm is generally classified i...
متن کاملAdsorption of 5.5’-Disulfonicindigotin (5.5’-DI) onto Green Coconut Fiber (Cocos nucifera L.): Kinetic and Isotherms
Green coconut fiber (Cocos nucifera L.) has been largely used in solid-phase extraction. The effect of the initial dye concentration (1.91, 3.02 and 4.02) × 10−5 mol∙L−1 and solid phase contact (SPE) time were evaluated at different temperatures (283, 298 and 313) K at pH 2. Kinetic experimental data were applied to three simplified kinetic models: pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, and i...
